So I've just finished playing one of the hottest games this year, after Grand Theft Auto V. This is The Last of Us by Naughty Dog. I have always loved games by Naughty Dog such as Jak, Daxter, and the oh, so loved Uncharted series. So, When i saw the trailer for The Last of Us, I jumped on it.
In The Last of Us, you play as Joel, who is traveling across the post-apocalyptic United States in the year 2033. His mission- The escort the 14-year-old girl, named Ellie to a resistance group called the Fireflies. Apparently, Ellie may be turning point in the research for the Cordyceps fungus, which is turning the citizens of America into various Zombie-like monsters, some quite scarier than others. As Joel, you will defend yourself and Ellie against these "zombies" as well as many types of very hostile humans like bandits and cannibals. Throughout the game you have to apply many strategies, which involve using the use of many type of firearms and stealthy kills. There is also an advanced hearing mode that Joel is capable of- in which he can listen so intensely that he can actually pin point where his enemies are before they even detect him or Ellie. The Last of Us is a typical survival game where the player has to pick up anything and everything you can in order to craft weapons and health packs, as well as the more fun items, like Molotovs and smoke bombs. Well, I think that if your not convinced you should play this game by now, then I'm not going to be able to convince you, But trust me- This game is totally worth the $60 you pay for it, and then some!! This is one of the best games that I've played since Uncharted 2: Among Thieves. I really suggest you give it a try. Still not convinced? Try the Demo on the PlayStation Store!
Enough babble, let's get into it. There are going to be several sections in this Walkthrough/ Strategy guide. As well as a walkthrough, I will tell you the locations of the collectibles- such as the Firefly pendants and comic books, as well as a little bit of help on how to defeat the stronger enemies (like bloaters) through out the game.
Beyond The Wall
As you continue through this underground tunnel with Tess, you will eventually reach a place like an old desk or workbench. There you will find your back pack and your equipment on the left side. Collect your things by pressing the triangle button and reload the pistol with R1. To look in your backpack at anytime, press Select just be careful when you do this!
To take out the last two enemies, Shoot the first at a distance- make sure to shoot it in the head! Then, when the other enemy draws near to you, beat it to death. Make sure to scout the area for supplies before you head to the next floor!

Once you get upstairs, you will notice a big hole in the wall, this is where you will exit the building. Before you leave, check the area to the left and check the area. Here there is a granola bar for health and the "Note to Brother" artifact. Now go outside with Tess. Follow her around outside and go up to the second floor. There, you see that the plank needed to cross the gap has fallen down, so jump down and grab the plank and bring it over to Tess to bring up. Walk over to the hole in the wall and crouch to go through it. Climb back up and cross the plank like Tess. Go outside and drop from the escape and keep following Tess. When she reaches the next door, there is a pendant on a branch of a tree there, shoot it down to retrieve it and go in.

Now, we will enter the slum!
Walkthrough
Hometown: Hometown is the first Chapter in The Last of Us, this chapter includes the section Prologue. (No Artifacts, Pendants, Training Manuals, or Comics in this section)
Prologue
The game starts you off with a long cutscene. When the little girl wakes up, it's time to play. Check out the bedroom, if you'd like and then head into the hallway.
The door you first run into is the bathroom, you can go in here and explore a little bit, if you like- but like the bedroom- there is no real reason too.
There is a newspaper on the counter that really serves no purpose to the game but may interest you if you if you are the information collector like i am.
Keep going down the hallway a little bit more, and you will reach the dad's room. In here, the television is on and there are some news playing for you to watch as well as a large explosion outside.
Time to go! Go back out the bedroom door, and down the stairs. There will be a cellphone ringing on the counter and a short note for you to read on the fridge.
After you look at these two things, Walk over the the office. A cutscene will begin, introducing the dad (Joel).
After this short cutscene, you will get in the car with Tommy and Joel. The only thing that you can do in the car is to look around. To zoom in and out while looking out the windows, press L1.
After driving for a little bit, you will get closer to the destruction and calamity which is the city. You will eventually get T-boned by a car. Get ready to hit that square button to break the window and to get out of the car.
Well, now the car is trash, so i guess it's time to start on foot. You have to carry Ellie, as she is badly hurt and cannot walk on her own. Follow the large crowd of the people in the street, avoiding the flames and the explosions. Once you witness the big explosion, turn right.
Keep on going and you will pass by a fire truck, take the alley the the left behind the truck. You get a little surprise attack from infected, so get ready to press square. Tommy will get a second to be a hero. Now run ahead of Tommy and run through the breakage in the wall in front of you. keep going.
DO NOT STOP. You come up on a military member.
Here, the final cutscene for this section will begin- The outcome is a little more than unexpected.
The Quarantine Zone
This is the second chapter of The Last of Us. It contains the sections, 20 Years Later, Beyond The Wall, The Slums, and The Cargo. ( There are 8 Artifacts and 3 Firefly Pendants in this chapter.)
20 Years Later
It's been 20 years since the beginning of the game. After the cutscene ends, Follow Tess to the checkpoint. Take your time here- eavesdrop on the passing citizens' conversations while on the way to the checkpoint. If you do- you will learn a bit about the conditions in the area. Keep on going to the check point.
As soon as you are finished eavesdropping- approach the guards at the checkpoint exit and show them your ID. Then there will be an explosion, after which you need to turn around quickly an follow Tess. (You can turn quickly by using the left analog stick and X) Follow Tess to a nearby building and when she gives you the health kit, use it by pressing up on the d-pad to select it and holding R1 to heal up. As you continue to follow Tess, you will get to a room with a cabinet blocking a passageway in the wall. Help Tess move this Cabinet but pressing the triangle button and moving the left analog stick to the right.
After you jump down a level, keep following Tess and press X whenever you need to go over or around an obstacle.
After you are done collecting your gear and checking out your backpack, it's time to go. Go to the wooden barricade that is blocking your way and give Tess a boost to get over the wall and you will follow right behind her. Once you climb up through the hole, Follow Tess to the front of the building for an optional conversation with her. Continue to walk with Tess, and after a short while, there will be a point when you have to find a ladder. You'll find this behind a nearby car wreck.
Press triangle to pick the ladder up, and lean it against the wall under the hole, and press triangle again to place the ladder. Climb up the ladder and after you reach the end, you're in a kitchen. There are a few drawers you can open in the kitchen so open them up to find a few supplies for upgrading your weapon later on.
In the room next to the kitchen is your first Firefly pendant. It's on the desk to the left. Once you are all done exploring and collecting the various items, climb down the stairs where Tess is waiting on you. Turn your flashlight on with R3.
Follow Tess until you encounter the spores and have to put your gas mask on. Go into the huge spore cloud, and crouch to go through the destroyed wall in the laundry room. You'll go right past the source of infestation an then you will pull the beam out of the way to go through the next door. On the other side of this door, you see a man who is dying, there a two options here, to put him out of his misery or to leave him there to suffer. Whatever you do, don't forget the ammo at his legs! Continue through the building that looks like it was once an office building and crouch to go through the blocked door. You're going to come up on three runners. To defeat these enemies, use Joel's listen skill (R2). Wait for the enemy closest to you to turn around and crouch and approach it from behind. Press triangle to grab the enemy and then square to strangle the zombie.
